There are a lot of brave faces around here. A lot of brave women who have tried to be mature, realistic and even philosophical. We have lost a woman that we loved. We now have to come to terms with the truth and that truth is very hard to take. We not only have lost Silvia, we have lost the couple of Pepa and Silvia.
Our friends and family look at us and wonder why we are mourning a fictional character, but if they have not watched the show, if they have not seen this love story, or if they are not gay, bisexual, or curious, then maybe they just won't or can't understand our pain.
The pain we feel is real and it will not simply drift away. We have not just watched Silvia once a week on television. We have watched her over and over again on Youtube. We have watched the PepSi scenes so many times that we can anticipate the lines, we can tell when Silvia is going to scratch her nose and we know when Pepa will blow air up into the sky. We have watched music videos to the point that we cannot hear some of those same songs on the radio because it hursts too much to think of PepSi.
Some of us loved Silvia and some of us were also in love with Marian. It didn't make a difference, we loved looking at this woman and we admired her tremendous acting skills.
So yes, when we tell people we are sad, we have a right to be sad. We have a right to mourn. As sad as this for us, I want to remember all the things we loved about Silvia. So here is my simple way of acknowledging what she meant to us.
Silvia Castro was one of the most complex, intelligent, vulnerable, sexy, funny, fierce and loving characters on television. Silvia loved her woman, her Pepa.
Thank you, Silvia...
For telling Pepa you wanted her to stay in San Antonio. You weren't sure what you were feeling, but you knew you didn't want to lose her...
For admitting to Lola that you were flirting with Pepa...
For walking into the bathroom, stroking Pepa's hair, turning her around, looking her in the eyes, slowly stepping towards her glorious mouth, and kissing her. And kissing her again.
For trusting Pepa to teach you to be with a woman.
For looking your father in the eye, while naked in bed with your lover, and silently say "this is who I am and this is who I love."
For being a woman so full of passion and pride that your embarassment became bigger than your logic...For being the very best forensic scientist in all of Spain. You have solved cases and saved lives.
For recognizing that fear makes you freeze and not live. For coming to see Pepa in the hospital to give her comfort and forgiveness.
For being extraordinarily patient with suitor Curis.
For being in the parking garage at the exact moment that Pepa was looking for you.
And for choosing to wear those jeans that day.For being adventurous, curious and willing to have sex in a variety of vertical locations in the precinct.
For giving Pepa an engagement ring and for just knowing that she was the one.
For loving your family and friends with deep loyalty and devotion (even Sara).
For adoring Pepa so completely.
For not being afraid of showing affection in public.
For communicating your love and fear with a look, a blink and a wink.
For having the most beautiful hair and most kissable mouth on television.
For being our pelirroja and our princesa, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Dr. Booker I don't need to explain to you how important Silvia is to me. Without her I wouldn't have met you and Dr. Piper and all the other wonderful ladies at PepSi University and AE. I look at Silvia as a gift that we unwrapped together. Thank you for your beautiful words and observations.
Very well said!
The last pic is lovely! (OK, la pelirroja looks gorgeous in all pix, but I really like the last one.)

Hahahaha!
This lecture is my favorite one yet. Such a lovely, heartfelt and yet hilarious way to pay tribute to Silvia (and MA). Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
Good lecture as usual, Dr. Booker. Great pictures too! Oh wait, I did choose those pics for you, didn't I?
Seriously now, I've held off on commenting because I've found it hard to categorize Silvia and her virtues into mere words and prose. It's as if by somehow "saying" all these things out loud diminishes the totality of her character.
I could say a million things why we love Silvia, or I could say nothing why we love Silvia... But I don't want to focus on the "why's" - because it's almost as if doing so means searching for a justification of what is otherwise, on the surface, a totally psychotic fandom adoration.
Maybe I don't want to justify, maybe there are no "why's"... maybe the rest of the world could regard such feelings with scorn and contempt, but the truth is - it still IS. As simple and deep and complicated and honest and true and pure as that.
It just IS, and thank you Silvia for that.
This made me tear up, Dr. B. Simply beautiful.
Dr. Booker ... I totally agree with you. :D
Thanks.
