Silvialogy 3x16

This episode and the next are Silvia-light, but at least not Silvia-free. Her arcs are removed from the Uriarte Case so just a few updates: Eva survived getting shot by Aitor but is now in jail, Lucas finds out that he has a half-sister (Carlota) and a stepmother, but when he goes to see them, step-mama is dead, Carlota is hiding in a closet, and the bad guys were *this* close to almost crossing paths with Lucas.

Lola is getting Don Lorenzo to curve his temper and to always smile (good for his health). They are at Cachis when baby sister/daughter comes in all perky. Don Lorenzo forces a smile and asks how she's doing and Silvia answers that she's very happy.

Don Lorenzo, forcefully trying to be equally perky, asks if being a single mother is a reason for her to be happy. Silvia and Lola exchange amused glances. Aitor comes in and with one look from DL, he immediately clams up.

Don Lorenzo is not done with Silvia and in between forced smiles and even more forced calm, he says that Lola is going to be an aunt and Montoya will soon find out.

Silvia immediately asks him and Lola not to say a word to Montoya. That he is already with Ruth and is happy. DL tries to reason with her, even smiling at Lola's insistence, but Silvia, in full pelirroja mode, losses it and forcefully says NO, Montoya should NOT know, and she FORBIDS them from saying a word about the pregnancy.

And since Silvia and DL are really father/daughter and have the same temperament, DL losses it too then walks out on his 2 daughters, to Silvia's amusement.

The next scene shows Lola and DL sitting on the steps of the comisaria. Lola is still on DL's case about being mellow and not being angry all the time. Then they look at the folks under his command and Lola shows him that despite their peculiarities and stupidity, they are all there for each other and happy and are getting things done. Then they see Silvia and Montoya walking and Lola says that Silvia is not telling him that they're having a baby because he is already in a relationship and happy with someone else, and for Silvia, his happiness is more important. And DL and Lola share a tender moment looking down at the comisaria.

LOLA, I MISS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE COME BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Silvialogy 3x15

The first scene shows Silvia walking into Cachis, plopping onto the counter, and talking to her sister. Lola asks her if she's feeling good and she says she's happy now that Lola is back.

She asks after Sara and then they saw Aitor enter to talk to Sara and that about answers that question.

Then Lola asks Silvia if she has spoken to Montoya yet, and Silvia answers, "About what?" Hahaha! And Lola exasperatedly said "Your pregnancy, Silvia, your pregnancy!" Silvia says she's just waiting for the right moment.

Silvia then says that since she's been knocked up, Montoya will always be a part of her life. But she's still waiting for the right woman, maybe from Sevilla. Okay, I made that last thing up.

Ruth then comes into Cachis and sits beside Silvia. First she orders a ham sandwich and when Lola leaves to make it, she asks Silvia if she has already told Montoya.

Silvia says no and says she's just waiting for the right moment. Ruth doesn't look very happy with the answer.

Silvia is presenting the autopsy result of Agent Pacheco, Eva's very cute partner and also the recipient of 5 of her bullets. Everyone is shocked to see his body on the table, with Eva giving a Goya-worthy performance as the grieving partner.

His body was found 4 km from the comisaria. Silvia concludes that the shots were fired from a distance of about 20 centimeters implying that the gunwoman was close to the victim both physically and otherwise. She thinks the victim and the shooter knew each other.

Eva has to ask if there are any physical evidence but DL says Silvia will be done with her exhaustive autopsy in five hours. Silvia says, "I'll have the results for you in four." Hahaha! So Silvia! Then DL asks Paco to lead the investigation and reminds everyone that Pacheco's death has something to do with the police corruption conspiracy and that someone from the comisaria could be the murderer, or someone from the comisaria could get murdered.

Later on, Silvia gallops into Cachis to show Lola her first ultrasound. She asks Lola if the "baby looks more like her or Montoya." (For a doctor, Silvia doesn't seem to know how to read the film - it's upside down.) Then Silvia says Lola is right and she will talk to Montoya who's sitting a few feet away. She says she'll tell him that she misses him, and that the 3 of them (including the baby) will be together always. Lola looks apprehensive but Silvia says, "It's now or never" and proceeds to walk to the table anyway, until Ruth comes back, kisses Montoya, and sits right next to him.

Silvia, still holding the ultrasound, stops on her tracks. Ruth sees her, and Montoya looks back at her, but she just turns around and leaves.

Back story: Tomas Fernandez survived getting shot from last episode and was in the hospital bonding with Lucas. That evening, Eva, dressed as a nurse and wearing a red wig, sneaked into Tomas' room and shot him dead. Mariano and Paco found the bullet riddled body and were going to hide it in the balcony, again, to spare Lucas the pain, but it fell onto a moving garbage truck.

Silvia is in the lab working on Tomas' body and pulling slugs from it when Lucas, followed by Paco, Mariano, and Don Lorenzo, all barge in. Silvia says she's sorry. She thinks that the bullets that killed Tomas were from the same gun that killed Agent Pacheco. Eva, in another Goya-worthy performance rushes in to Lucas' side to console him. Silvia says that the only difference between Pacheco's and Tomas' corpses was the latter's post-mortem trauma. Paco and Mariano glance at each other. Silvia looking suspiciously at Eva - damn, this doctor is GOOD! - says that it looks like a professional hit.

More back story: Sara has been suspicious of Eva eversince finding blood in Eva's car when they rode together to rescue her parents and seeing her shoot Tomas without provocation. She enlists Aitor's help in breaking into Eva's car and there they find a nurse's outfit and a red wig - Eva's disguise when she killed Tomas in the hospital. Now they have the proof to implicate Eva but the woman is in Lucas' apartment since you know, they're DATING! Lucas is smart but not smart enough to avoid getting almost killed by his girlfriend, if not for Aitor who rushes in and shoots Eva before she can kill Lucas.

Silvialogy 3x14

Back story: I've been meaning to put together a little "Caso de Uriarte" primer on the people involved, etc., and one of these days, I will. But for now, just a little background story on Tomas Fernandez - he was Paco's partner and they were doing a surveillance on Uriarte, an officer of the comisaria suspected of corruption. They were in a jungle and they saw Uriarte wheeling and dealing, so they proceeded to arrest him. But Tomas turned the gun on Paco - he was part of the whole corruption gang. Instead of telling Lucas the truth about his father, Tomas' death was faked. Now with the Uriarte organization surfacing again, Tomas abducted Paco, et.al., and brought them to his villa. He understands the danger that Paco and his family are in and offers them fake passports, lots of money, and the chance to move to Argentina (I think). Meanwhile, Eva, revealed as one of the bad guys, kills her partner.

At the police station, everyone is doing police stuff to try and find Paco and company. Silvia comes in and pulls DL to the side and tells him something about not finding a helicopter.

Silvia then grimaces and clutches her stomach and she tells DL that she's around 8 weeks pregnant. Eva enters and asks DL what's going on and DL tells her about Lucas (and Mariano) being kidnapped by Lamb Blood (LB) guy. Sara then enters screaming because she escaped from Tomas' villa and like a pest that you're trying desperately to lose, she always comes back. She tells them that Tomas is not dead and she knows how to get to back to the villa.

And since this is Comisaria de San Antonio, everyone simply goes on a field trip to rescue Paco and Lola. Eva takes Sara with her in the car, and Silvia, as always, is taking her purse / handbag along (see picture below).

At the Fernandez villa, they find LB guy chained to a car - Lucas and Mariano are inside. (Funny scene of Mariano who pulled a gun on a scarecrow he thought was human because he had blurry vision. Not in this clip though.)

Everyone starts putting on their bullet proof vest and Montoya helps Silvia with hers. Silvia tries to tell him that she's pregnant, but they are interrupted by DL who yells "Vamos!"

DL tells her shouldn't go in because of her condition, to which Silvia replies that her sister is inside and damn if she doesn't do anything to get her. Guess who wins the argument?

DL, Silvia, and Montoya are in the courtyard with guns drawn, ready to storm inside the house. But of course, DL takes this opportunity to ask Silvia who the baby-daddy is. Silvia incredulously answers that it's Montoya.

DL likes the baby-daddy and he goes to Montoya who's hiding behind a different pillar to ask him if he's with Ruth. He confirms so DL scuttles back to the pillar where Silvia is and tells her it's bad.

Silvia then asks him if he saw something and DL says that Montoya is now with Ruth and that's why it's bad. Silvia ignores her father's lame but loving attempt of getting her and Montoya back together, because after all, they're IN THE MIDDLE OF A MISSION! And as Dino said, Silvia is already thinking of that mujer from Sevilla whom she wants to raise a baby with...

The trio finally gets inside the house where they see Tomas, Paco, Lola, and Mariano. Lucas tries to get his father to surrender but he goes outside to escape and Lucas blocks the door so DL cannot follow him. Outside, Tomas is shot by Eva unprovoked. Sara saw the whole thing because despite everyone asking her to stay in the car, she DID NOT stay in the car.

I'm not sure if this is where Season 3 ends but for the sake of simplicity, I'll just keep my original season and episode numbers.

Piper's Commentary
A couple of you posted that you just read Episode 104's English translation which left you sad again, and that makes it harder for you to appreciate the old Silvia episodes. To which I say: that's part of the grieving process but I promise you that it will get easier especially since Silvia is only a fictional character and when you wake up tomorrow and look around you, you'll see that your world is still the same.

Personally, I am posting all the old Silvia episodes because I enjoy watching them again. They make me appreciate the character more, and realize that Silvia died precisely when she had finally found herself and was really happy. Because when you're THAT happy, death is just an inconvenience and real joy transcends even life itself. Yeah, sucks for those who are left behind.

These old episodes also remind me what LHDP, at its best, used to be: stupidly funny and creative. Despite all the mishaps that these hapless cops go through, they still find salvation in each other and it makes the viewers feel good because it shows that human frailties do not mean that things will be not be okay in the end.

Which is why it becomes so clear and blatant that the last episode did not have the usual LHDP virtues, because everything was not okay. Because the hapless cops' haplessness and incompetence finally caught up to them with tragic results. From an artistic point of view, the writers targeted the lowest common denominator and invoked the viewers' visceral, primal pain. In one clean sweep, they managed to undermine all the ethos they have tried to build over the last 4 years at the expense of their audience. I really do not see the salvation in what they tried to do, because that is simply NOT the way to reboot a show.

Two of my favorite TV shows, Pushing Daisies and Eli Stone, were both canceled this year by ABC. Both shows had main characters who were so close to being dead: Chuck was just a Ned touch away from death while Eli Stone, with 2 brain aneurysms, was always in danger of croaking. The writers were given the chance to wrap up the series, both of which had some on-going plots, but instead of going the easy route and killing anyone (hence effectively ending the show), both series ended positively, with the simple message that everything would be okay even if we, the audience, would not be able to see them anymore.

Silvialogy 3x13

Back story: After being exposed to some dangerous virus from last episode, both Lucas (accompanied by Eva) and Paco (with Lola and Sara), in 2 different ambulances, were to go to the hospital for observation. Paco's ambulance was ambushed by unknown gunmen and he and his family were abducted.

The episode begins at the briefing room. Everyone is worried about Paco, Lola, and Sara. Eva from Internal Affairs wants to take over the investigation because she thinks Paco just escaped because he's guilty of something.

After Eva leaves, Don Lorenzo asks his crew to cooperate with Internal Affairs but Silvia protests saying her father should have more confidence in Paco and Lola. The Pacos agree and all profess their belief in Paco's innocence.

Don Lorenze is easily swayed and proclaims that they are going to conduct a parallel investigation, then assigns a task to each one. He closes by saying, "Let's find my family." Mariano is suffering from some blurry vision.

In the parking garage, Silvia is processing the ambulance (where Paco, et. al. were abducted from) for forensics evidence.

Don Lorenzo comes and asks her if she's found anything. She said plenty: hair, hamburger, DNA and prints from over 200 people (wow, how did she reach this conclusion so fast?), but in reality, nothing that can really help.

DL says "Good job, you'll find something" anyway, but Silvia is looking really perturbed. She tells her father that she is 2 months late, and DL asks, "Are you pregnant?" No, Don Lorenzo, she's menopausal! Of course she's pregnant!

Then Silvia proceeds to say that she wishes Lola were here so she could tell her the good news, and then they hug. DL in tears: not sure if from joy or from realizing his future grandchild will be a bastard

In the lab, Silvia, Montoya, and DL are looking at the surveillance camera where Paco, et.al., were abducted from. They see the gunmen forcefully herd the Paco, et.al. into a van - which confirms Paco's innocence.

Silvia enhances the video and she and DL both recognize the man waiting for Paco inside the van. Montoya is all like, "What? What?", but DL asks Silvia not to breathe a word to anyone.

Inside the locker room, Silvia is looking at the mirror when Ruth comes in and tells her that everything is going to be okay.

But Silvia says that she's feeling lost and she shows Ruth the positive early pregnancy test. And she says she needs her sister and she's going to be a mother and she's so happy.

She then hugs Ruth - who happens to be currently dating her baby-daddy (Montoya). And from the look on Ruth's face, she's not ready to be a step-mother.

Next we see the guy who was covered in lamb's blood from Episode 3x01 holding Lucas hostage.

Back story: Latin American guy splattered himself with blood in Episode 1 so he could go inside the police station and kill the corrupt ex-commissioner from season 2. In this episode, Lucas gives him his gun so he and Lamb Blood (LB) guy can leave the comisaria under the hostage pretense, and LB can lead him to Paco, et. al. It works, despite the entire police station's guns being pointed at them! Really? I wouldn't ever want these cops attempting to rescue me if I were held hostage with a gun on my head!
