(If you want to watch the episode without downloading it, the link is at the end of the post)

Paco is overwhelmed with his life: Mariano and Lola, the precinct (since he's acting comisario), the Salazar case - among others. His shrink has been very patient, but one too many phone calls and he's fast approaching pest status. After a particularly violent nightmare where he finds Lola in bed with Mariano whom he ends up shooting, he called for a "meeting" among the 3 of them (remember, Mariano lives next door).  At the kitchen table, he gives them their freedom but Lola vehemently professes that she never loved Mariano and she only loves her husband, and they end up hugging and kissing.  Mariano is heartbroken and silently walks away. Paco visits Lucas and Pove in jail: Pove wants to go home and Lucas takes this jailhouse visit as a good opportunity to tell Paco that Sara broke up with him. **Barf!!!** Curtis is back at work. Montoya is drunk and unshaven and interrupts the daily briefing.  Silvia comes in to tell Paco that the Interpol wants an update on the undercover jail mission and they have already called 6 times. There's just something so sexy about the way Silvia says "interpol". *swoon*

She also asks if Mariano is coming to work that day - which he isn't after being handed his mutilated heart on a silver platter.  He is already in consultation with Dr. Lobotomy to drill into his brain so he can forget Lola.

Silvia asks Gonzalo what's going on, because he obviously hasn't seen a razor or a shower, for that matter.

Photobucket
Silvia: “Is there something wrong, Gonzalo?”
Gonzalo: “What? With me? No, not at all, I’m fabulous…” [Translator's Reaction: LOL!]

As Silvia turns around, Rita is there with Sabina.  Silvia immediately tenses up.
Rita: Inspector, can I have a minute, please? I wanted to apologise for what I said the other day [Translator's snide remark: It's about time!]. I was very nervous about the baby, and I lost it. I said very nasty things.
Silvia: It’s all right. But how could you even think that I wanted to steal your baby?
Photobucket
Rita: I know, I know. It was the maternal instinct, and since my maternal instinct is from Murcia [Translator's Note: People from Murcia are notorious for being quite rude and thick – Rita is the best example; she’s lovely, but not especially bright. It’s a hilarious line, btw]it’s a bit coarse. That was it.
Photobucket
Rita: And, you know what? Sabinica asked me if you would like to be her Godmother at her baptism.
Silvia: Really?
Rita: Yes.
Silvia: I would love to be her Godmother, Rita.
Rita: Thanks very much, thank you.

Rita and Silvia seal the deal with a kiss.  On the cheeks. Silvia's phone rings and she excuses herself to take the call.

Mariano is already signing the consent to undergo the brain procedure.  Povedilla is panicking in jail and wants to go home.  Lucas wants him to break his (Lucas) arm so he can go to the infirmary where DL is. Montoya is still hammered, unshaven, and sleeping on his desk.  When Portillo comes around, the Pacos pretend that they're having a celebration for Curtis' return to justify Montoya's slushiness - he's supposed to give his statement to Portillo that day.  Lucas and DL fight in the infirmary because Lucas accuses DL of wallowing in self-pity and not defending himself against his accusers.  With Lucas on DL duty, Salazar becomes Pove's new cellmate. Huh??? He and one of Pove's rapists want to test his hacking skills (which are non-existent).  To prepare Montoya for his statement, the Pacos give him a cold shower, ply him with black coffee, and get him a new suit.  Rita volunteers to give the first statement to buy Montoya some time; she hands Paco the baby.  Silvia comes in to update Paco on Pove's situation.

Photobucket
Silvia: Paco!
Paco: What?
Silvia: Paco! Povedilla called, he was very nervous. He said he managed to establish a contact with Salazar, but that he asked him to pass a test: he’s got to hack all security codes of the Jefatura Superior de Policía [Translator's note: the bigger bosses, the central, pretty much], tonight.
Paco: Fuck… Tonight? Well, we need to bring Povedilla here asap to prepare the mission, all right, Silvia?
Silvia: Okay. (Silvia looks at Sabinica adoringly)

Aitor (with Carlota) and Pignoise Boy are playing foosball at Cachis when Sara comes in.  Aitor is being an ass (with good reason!) and asks Sara why she's there.  Uhm, her mother owns the place, dickhead! Verbal duel between the 2 which then becomes a foosball match.  Pove is sprung up from jail and is at the comisaria to get his hacking crash course. Silvia and IT lady are there to help him.

Photobucket
Silvia: Here we are. Look, she is the head of the Unidad de Delitos Informáticos de la Central [Translator's Note: The IT experts in the police]
IT Lady: Nice to meet you.
Silvia: Everything’s gonna be all right, you’ll see. Everything is under control.
Pove: No, excuse me, Inspector, that is not right. You have nothing under control. Nothing.
Silvia: You only need to digit several access codes that she’s gonna give you…
Photobucket
Pove: What the hell, what codes? Inspector, please, what are you saying? I can barely use Word, Excel and Minesweeper, and only user level… I have no idea… I know nothing about routes, or keys, or encrypting… no, no idea…
IT Lady: Calm down, take it easy. It’s a fake. We have created a URM
Pove: Oh, she created a URM [with irony]
IT Lady: A User (?) Remote Monitorisation [Translator's smart ass comment: oh, that is very helpful, thanks], that you can access easily. You only need to memorize seven steps. Let’s see. Step one, you log on the computer. There will be RC4 trojan. Tell him you have developed it yourself. Step two, log on as an administrator. Step three, click on the icon Jefatura. Step four, enter the directory Jefatura, folder number 4. It’s called Dirección General de Seguridad. Step 5, you press Alt + F7 + V and then Enter [Translator's snide remark: Oh yeah, nerdy lady, it’s so easy. Pove’s fuck’s-sake face is evident and he starts having flashbacks]. Did you hear me? Alt + F7 + V and then Enter. Then the Trojan will be in the system

[Pove flashbacks]

Pove: ENOUGH! Enough, it’s over… I’m not doing this. By step 6, this guy has burnt me alive.
Silvia: Calm down, Povedilla.
Photobucket
Pove: Do you see me nervous, Inspectora? [Translator's sarcasm: No, not at all, Pove, you look very chilled out] Maybe I’m nervous cause that man has a thing for bonfires… Maybe that’s why I’m nervous… Maybe I’m nervous because that dude has already burnt a man alive in there… Maybe I’m nervous cause he walks about all day with a fucking lighter in his hand… Maybe that’s why I’m nervous, Inspector!
Silvia: But that man is being watched constantly, Povedilla.
Pove: But… what do you know about prison? What? That dude walks about wherever the fuck he wants. That dude… burns people alive. That dude changes his cell like he changes his underpants – and in his fucking cell he has a laptop with a GPS connection. And that’s what that dude does in jail.
Silvia: You are the only one who can do this, Povedilla. We cannot infiltrate another hacker in jail.
Pove: Well that’s a pity. It’s a pity, Inspector. Because I’m not going back in there, I swear I don’t. You can call the Ministry of Interior, the State Secretary and you can kick me out of the force. But I swear to God I am not coming back in.

The foosball "tournament" between Aitor and Sara is underway at Cachis.  Sara ends up winning, but she tells Aitor not to feel bad because she's been playing since she was 8 years old.  Mariano is in his office pondering his incoming lobotomy.  Rita is in the interrogation room with Portillo, giving her non-statement (basically, she was just chatting him up), but doing her best to buy time for Montoya to sober up.  The Interpol guys decided to show up because Paco hasn't been taking their calls.  Paco goes to see Montoya in the locker room, who confesses that he is an alcoholic.  Silvia comes in to tell him they have a problem with Pove.  All the while, Paco is holding Sabinica while he dashes from one part of the precinct to another, for maximum comedic effect.  (Piper's misguided righteousness: Shame on you, Globomedia!  That baby is NOT a prop!)

Photobucket
Silvia: Is there anything wrong?
Paco: No, nothing. Everything’s fine. What?
Silvia: Paco, we have a very serious problem with Povedilla. And Lola. She’s waiting for you in the office, she’s out of her mind and she doesn’t want to tell me what’s wrong.
Paco: Lola?

[Outside the locker room]

Paco: In which office? Your father’s?
Silvia: Yes.
Smith: Inspector, Inspector, Inspector…
Paco: Wait, hold on, two minutes, please…
Photobucket
With the interpol guys on his trail, Paco goes to see Lola who is worried about DL, takes a call from Lucas to tell him about his fight with DL at the jail's infirmary, and finds Mariano making notes and tapes to help him remember after he gets his lobotomy.  And all the while, Sabinica is such a good baby... not fussing or crying or anything.  If there's such a category as  Best TV Baby @ the Goyas, Sabinica would have won it, pampers down.

Photobucket
Silvia: You have to talk to Povedilla NOW. We GOT a problem.
Paco: A problem, yeah.
Silvia: And a very serious one.
Paco: A very serious problem, yeah. Stop recording right now, Mariano, and don’t move from here until I’m back, all right? Okay, please, Mariano, please.

[Interpol guys stop them]

DeGaulle: Can we start the meeting, sil vu plait?
Paco: Yes, yes, sí me plé [Translater's reaction: Pretend French - TOO funny!]. But you’re gonna have to excuse me for a second *sniffs… poo?*… A quick minute.
Photobucket
[Montoya stops him]

Curtis: Boss!
Paco: What?
Montoya: I’m ready to give my statement.
Paco: Good, are you sure? Really? And what the hell is that? [notices a label hanging from Montoya’s blazer] Take this off, man! Let’s see, your breath [Translator's note: Montoya opens his mouth, all stinking of gin, I guess]. Blugh, God, the baby. Victoline [gives him a pill].
Montoya: Paco, I’m probably not done making mistakes, but if I fall, I will rise up again.
Paco: Come on, let’s go.
Curtis: C’mon, boss!
Silvia: [chasing them, coming from the other side of the stairs] But Paco, Povedilla is here! [Translator's reaction: Hahaha very funny!]
Photobucket
Rita succeeds in buying time for Montoya who comes into the Interrogation room sober and decently dressed.
Paco: Mr Portillo, we have Inspector Montoya here, ready to give his statement.
Portillo: It’s okay, let him in.
Montoya: Inspector.
Rita: Thanks.
Silvia: Paco, come on, Povedilla, for God’s sake…
Paco: Silvia, just a minute.
Photobucket
Paco hands the baby back to Rita and continues his trek all around the comisaria with Silvia in tow.  Along the way, he meets many different characters.  Not really, just the interpol guys.
Smith: INTERIM CAPTAIN!!!! [Translator's note: I have my doubts here, because I’ve seen a lot of comisario written around, but that it’s for civil uses –a ‘comisario’ is either a captain or a superintendent]
Paco: Erhmmmm… Mister Smith, Monsieur DeGaulle… three minutes,…. Two, two… One… Come on…
Smith: I DEMAND an immediate urgent meeting with your superiors, ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME?
He finally gets to Povedilla.
Paco: Fuck the Englishman’s temper… What’s wrong, Povedilla? What’s wrong?
Pove: I don’t want to go back to jail, Inspector, that’s the matter. I am not going back in. That’s full of crazy bastards, people who don’t give a shit about anything, who wouldn’t mind kicking you to death or burn you alive in your bed, and I’m not going back in.
Paco: Let’s see, Povedilla. I understand your apprehension, and I understand who difficult this mission is, but you’re in a prison, it’s all under control, and that place is safer than it seems.
Pove: Safer than it seems? Can you two leave for a second, please?

[Pove tells Paco he’s been raped in prison. They both cry]
Photobucket
The Interpol guys barge into the room demanding an audience with Paco.
Smith: Look, I don’t know what’s going on, but I’ve been chasing you for two days now. I demand an immediate update on the mission.
Paco: There is no mission, it’s been cancelled. From now on, any investigation on the Salazar case is suspended.
Smith: Who? Who ordered that?
Paco: I did. I ordered that. It’s over. Full stop.
At Cachis, Sara is still trying to loop in Aitor but he brings Carlota with him, to show her that he's over her.  FOR NOW.  And then I really don't care what they say, so I fast- forwarded.  Back at the comisaria, Rita comes to talk to Paco about Pove.
Rita: Inspector [noises, back chat]. Give me a second. Excuse me. I know I may not be the best to ask you to explain anything to me, but I don’t understand. I don’t understand why you cancelled Jose Luís’s undercover mission, I don’t know, you don’t trust him?
Paco: No. No, yes, I mean, it’s not that. It’s not that I don’t trust him. He is just not ready for it. Not yet, Rita.
Rita: But he’s been working his socks off here for two years. He’s given it all in every mission. Do you not remember when he was stuck in the coffin with the Chinese dude? Don’t you remember? And when he was buried? And when he got the boob job? [Translator's snide remark: seriously, Pove, you have the most surrealistic CV in the whole Spanish Police force!] I don’t know, but I haven’t heard him complain about anything, or having second thoughts about being a policeman. How can you say he’s not ready?

Paco: Rita, stop it. Povedilla is not ready, and he cannot handle this mission. Full stop, all right?
Curtis: How can you say full stop? Can you not see that he’s been through tons of things that none of us would ever have the balls to do ourselves? I am responsible for this unit. I’m telling you, Inspector Miranda, that we’re not talking about a simple pawn. No, we’re talking about a professional, we are talking about a Señor Policía [Translator's note: A total professional], boss.
Rita: Come on, Inspector, let him show you. Because Jose Luís at first looks very weak, but then he is very brave, deep inside of him, he’s very brave. And I think he deserves an opportunity like everybody else. And furthermore, Sabinica knows it. I tell her every night that her dad is in jail but that when he’s out, he’s gonna be a hero [Translator's note: "Se va a coronar" – often used by Paco and Mariano. Literally means to crown yourself, which would roughly mean to do something right and with style. Very LHDP] [talking to Sabina] Yeah, you know that, mommy tells you, doesn’t she? Yeah? He’s gonna be the best, you know.
Paco: I’m sorry, Rita. It just can’t happen, sorry.
Pove: Inspector. I want to go on. I want you to reconsider your decision.
Paco: Povedilla, no.
Pove: Yes, Inspector, yes. Erhhhh, we have already contacted him, I have an hour to memorize what the expert tells me, and I really want to do it. To pick myself up from the floor and do it. If I don’t do it, no one’s gonna do it for me, and you know that. Inspector, trust me, all right?
Photobucket

Sara and Aitor are talking at Cachis.  Sara tells him that Lucas is the love of her life; Aitor listens teary-eyed. What is it with mother-daughter smacking their admirers in this episode?  Carlota smacks Sara back by telling her that she doesn't like Sara for her brother. At the comisaria, Paco acquiesces and allows Pove to assume his undercover mission.  Tender moment between Pove, Rita, and Sabinica.
Silvia: Jose Luís, so then we go through the steps again, we only have an hour.
Pove: Just a second.
Silvia: I’m sorry, you have to go back in. Sorry, Rita.
Montoya is giving his statement and relieving the day that Ruth died. DL, at the jail infirmary with Lucas, is also having flashbacks, so he calls a nurse, writes his involvement in the Uriarte case and basically declares that he is ready to defend himself, as Lucas proudly looks on.  The Interpol guys finally get their audience with Paco, but Lola comes in to give Paco the good news (about DL's jailhouse conversion), and they do a happy dance.  Mariano is missing and Lola and Paco want to look for him, then Montoya comes in and hugs Paco because his meeting with Portillo was a success.  De Gaulle and Smith realize that Paco won't have time for them that day.  After the Spaniards left, the 2 interpol guys look at each other and sigh, resigned - "España".  In jail, Pove "passes the test" so Salazar wants to take him.  His homies start a fire to induce chaos and facilitate their escape.

Photobucket

What else can I add?  Silvia rocks in this episode.  Paco is Paco - despite himself, he always wants to do the right thing.  This is one of the better LHDP episodes, because it is actually funny and it perfectly and seemlessly segues from drama to comedy and vice versa.  Overall, I still wouldn't want these bumbling cops to protect me or patrol my neighborhood, but I would gladly attend their party and hang out with them, because they have each other's back.

Bathroom Scene

by Junebuggy
Head of Smut Department

Hi ladies. Recently there was a debate going on about what transpired between our two lovely ladies after the bathroom scene. Many believe that they just made out. And many, like myself, believe they went all the way and did a naked touchdown dance. I mean, that is what "all the way" looks like right? Touchdown dances?...Nakedly? No?...

Whatever, anyways, my belief that they made love together is not simply because I like the imagery that gives me, cause God knows that I do, but it's the fact that there was so much heat  emanating from that bathroom. Too much to simply stop at a simple makeout session. ~~~~~~~~~

I stand here with my hand on the door, preparing to leave my sister's house. Images of Pepa flood my mind, her smile, her swagger, her piercing eyes. I think about what events will unfold with my decisions. I have one to make and two choices. Home... home I know what will happen because it's habitual. I'll put my pajamas on, crawl into bed and try to pay attention to the television... but my mind will undoubtedly wander. Or I could go to her, the one that will be where my mind will wander to. I can find her in this place and do something I've never done before. Something that I've been wanting to do for a long time. Something that I haven't done because of the fear... the fear of losing her again, because of my want.

With a little bit of liquid courage and a shy smile I tell my fear to momentarily go to hell. I make my way, not very steathily, into the hallway. Remembering that she had needed to take the make up off her face, I head to the bathroom. I see the shadow cast by her legs on the floor underneathe the door and swallow hard before pushing against the only pyhsical obstacle between me and my desire.

I shake slightly as I see her smile at me, "Hello."

"Hello." I reply, but my nerves have taken a hold of me and it comes out softer than I planned.

I check behind the door as I come in, just to make sure that no one has seen me follow her in here. I shut it and walk deeper into the bathroom, taking in the sight of her, as I float around her.

"Is something going on?" She asks timidly and I nod in response.

Something is taking over me at this moment and I can't control it. My eyes never leaving the brunette's in the mirror as I stand behind her. I can see that she isn't quite sure what my motives are being in here with her. And honestly neither am I, but her eyes... they make me want more with her. More than what we have. More than what I've allowed us to have. She tries to break the tension that I've so heavily caused by entering this room.

"Do you want a wipe?"

She asks so carelessly that it throws me a bit and I click my tongue back in response as she turns back around to continue swabbing away at her already clean lips. My gaze falters to the ground for a moment as I battle internally with myself.

Just do it... but I can't... Just do it! My eyes start to trace her body lustfully and I've made my decision. I step closer to her and I hear her breath hitch. Her movements stop as I slowly, and shakily, run my fingers through her hair. All the while guaging her reaction. She doesn't do anything, but she doesn't stop me either, which prompts me to do it again. This time, purposefully grazing her neck and her eyes flutter shut. I love that reaction and it makes me bolder and more wanting. I slide my fingers down her arm, revelling the feel of her skin. I want more.

I grip her and turn her around gently to face me. I smooth my hand down her arm again, in it's entirety, making her eyes close yet again. I smile and faintly shiver as I feel the goosebumps rise at her touch. I close my eyes to feel the full effect of what she's doing to me and when they reopen I see her beautiful smile. She clasps my hand bringing it slowly to her cheek, but I'm so nervous that my hand falters, and after she releases it falls to her shoulder. She caresses my face. I want more.

I stare at her lips, debating once again with myself. Her eyes making the decision for me, I lean in and place a soft kiss on her lips, pulling back I see a wide grin on her face. I want more. I lean in once again, this time she meets me in the middle, and grasps the back of my head to bring me in closer. I pull back once again, she smiles at me as if to say, "How hard was that?" It makes us giggle softly.

She plays with the top button of my dress, gently fingering it, asking silently. I chuckle at her forwardness and unbutton her vest to prove that I'm game. It surprises her a bit and I laugh. She kisses me again and makes quick work of my two buttons, daring me. I gladly take on that dare and work at her vest again. Her smile fans the flame inside me as our lips connect once again. I want more. Something surges through me as I push trying to bring myself as close as possible to her. It throws her, in turn throwing us both and we crash into the door. Dropping anonymous items onto the floor as she laughs silently and shushes me. I can't help but chuckle at the fact that we're sneaking around, like we're teenagers again.

Pepa's done playing now. She strips off her vest and pushes me back to the middle of the bathroom. She slowly undoes my buttons to my waist, lightly brushing her fingers against my skin as she does so. Tracing the contours of my exposed flesh with her eyes and nails. And kisses me once again. I miss the feeling of her mouth as she breaks from me to shed her shirt. I wait somewhat impatiently for her contact to return, never taking my eyes off her perfectly toned body. As soon as it's off she grips my chin and crashes our lips back together. I want more. I run my palms over her smooth skin as she tastes my neck. I have never known anyone's lips to fit so perfectly on my body before. My hands quickly make its way to her shoulders and I pull her in as close as possible. I arch into her. Her hands delicately cup my cheeks as she makes her way back up to my mouth. She breaks contact with me, withdrawing slightly. I tilt my head and stare at her in confusion.

"What?" I breathe.

She grins sheepishly, "You're so beautiful..."

...is her reply as she wraps her arms around my waist, bringing our bodies back together once again. I can't take the seperation of our lips and crash mine into hers. The kisses that were only seconds ago tender and graceful, are now full of hunger and I become needy. Gripping onto the back of her neck to deepen the kiss.

This motion, in turn, makes her more wanting as she traps me between herself and the wall. I'm stuck and I don't want that to change. She runs her fingers down my back and within seconds my bra has disapeared. Her hands taking over the duty of the material she had so carelessly dropped to the floor. I let out a soft moan as she massages my mounds.

Her mouth slowly descends making it's way to my chin first, then my pulse point, down to replace her right hand. She sucks, and bites lightly, my nub hardening almost painfully. The hand that her tongue had so pleasantly replaced, continues the descent, leaving a burning trail on the areas of my skin it had touched. Her fingers glide down, making it's way under my dress, as she cups me through fabric. I want more.

"Pepa..." I whisper, tightening the grip I have on her neck.

She understands quickly the meaning of her name in that vague statement and slips her hand inside my underwear, grazing my heat and I moan. It's at this moment I realise that her touch is what I've been wanting.  I want more.

"Pepa?" I repeat a little louder than before.

I see an energy run through Pepa's eyes as she rubs against me, creating a heavenly friction. Her hand and mouth leave my breasts going in different directions. Her mouth to my own and her hand to grip my outer thigh. She lifts and I willingly obey, wrapping my legs tightly around her. She slips two gifted fingers inside me. I moan into her mouth as she starts to thrust, gradually picking up speed. I NEED more. I move to the rythym of her motions.

"More!" I scream softly. "God, Pepa!"

Our kisses cease as she places her forhead against mine. Her eyes burning into me as she adds another finger, and places her thumb on my most sensitive area. Flicking everytime she thrusts. My hands dig into the her back.

"Mmmm...Pepa!"

She picks up her speed to carry me through as I bite down on her shoulder to quiet myself. She starts to move away, but I don't want her to leave me quite yet. I grip her tighter with my thighs. Understanding, she holds on to me, breathing so close to me, and places a soft kiss on my lips. She's Pepa Miranda. She's who I've been needing all my life. And only now do I let myself realise it. ~~~~~~~~

*Smiles*

Okay ladies, this is obviously a start to the night. No where near the ending. I hope that ya'll enjoyed my lecture today.

BABY STEPS

There is beauty in film. There are scenes that exemplify beauty and you know that you have seen something unique. Each of us have different opinions of what that beautiful moment is. I think there is beauty in the dancing of Laurel and Hardy. The scene of the girl in the red coat is a moment of beautiful black and white film making. There is beauty in Barbra Streisand brushing away Robert Redford's hair while he sleeps on a bar stool. Sometimes the beauty of a scene is in its simplicity. It must have sharp writing and direction and actors who can not only tell a story with dialogue, but with silence.

This is a lecture that I never thought I would write. How could I write about a perfect scene that is a thing of beauty? This scene is always mentioned as one of the most popular among fans. I do think it is one of the best Pepa and Silvia scenes and I think that is why I cannot avoid this lecture any longer. Three words come to mind with this scene: strength, vulnerability and trust.

It all takes place in an empty space that looks like an airplane hangar or warehouse. Two cops are working a crime scene, both are wearing yellow vests and have their hair pulled back. That is what we see on the surface, but we know so much more. We know that Pepa and Silvia are dipping their toes in the "relationship waters". We know that Silvia was hesitant about her attraction to Pepa, but after talking to Jose Luis, she seems ready to move forward. In my mind, Silvia left Jose Luis, and raced into Pepa's arms. I will go out on a limb and say that since that episode, they have been together like little Spanish bunnies.

There are four acts to this scene.

Act One--As they are working the crime scene, they share a moment when Silvia gives Pepa a smile and we know that they are "together". But when Pepa tries to kiss Silvia (and they are alone), Silvia backs away.

Act Two--Silvia tells Pepa that she feels like a "fish out of water" and that she is not concerned about what her father would say. She is trying to see herself in this relationship. How does she do things that she never had to think about before? She uses the examples of holding hands, getting a hotel room and kissing in public. All of her concerns are real and valid for a woman in her situation. Silvia articulates her fears and shows her vulnerability....she doesn't hide that she is scared. How does she continue to love Pepa? How do they leave the privacy of the bedroom and step out into the real world? How does a woman who has only been with men, now be openly in love with a woman?

This is Pepa's moment and it is a good one. Pepa listens to Silvia and doesn't interrupt or minimize her feelings. She tells her that she will stand by her, and that she needs to focus only on her, because she is the one who can help her. Pepa shows her a deep strength that says that not only will I help you, but I will not leave your side. And then....Pepa put out her hand.

Act Three--Women all over this planet wanted to take this walk with Pepa and Silvia. Pepa tells Silvia that walking together is not so scary. Look at how nice the park is, how beautiful the ocean is...all the things you love are still here. There are just to the two of us walking together, enjoying the view.

Pepa puts her arm around Silvia and Silvia puts her arm around Pepa. Pepa then asks her if she is cold and Silvia answers that she is fine. My understanding of that moment is that Silvia has trembled--not because she is cold, but because she is overwhelmed by this moment. But no matter what, we see Pepa as the protector, as the one who will protect her novia from all the elements, whether they be physical or emotional. Silvia is safe.

Act Four--They are now running to the make believe train station and Pepa wants a kiss goodbye. The idea of kissing Pepa in public is unimaginable to Silvia. This scene is approached with humor, but most of us know that this is a real issue. No matter what Silvia says ("what will the nuns think?"), Pepa shoots down her worries. When Pepa suggests that they could be apart for two weeks, Silvia gives up.

(Dos semanas tanto?)

The thought of being separated is simply too hard to imagine. She kisses Pepa and with a smile on her face, Pepa kisses her back. After the first kiss, Pepa tells Silvia that they cannot be apart, and they kiss again.

This kiss was a big hit with viewers and was a YouTube sensation. What was the big deal? In the last episode they had kissed in the lab, but it was mainly Pepa being the aggressor and the kisses were pretty quick. In the hangar, Silvia makes the first move. She puts her arms around Pepa and opens her mouth....and our mouths opened in awe. This was Silvia saying that she believes in Pepa, that she trusts her and that she loves her. This was the moment that they became a couple.

PepSi became known for their unspoken moments and it all started in the bathroom. The writers knew that they had many golden moments with these two actors and it became a thread throughout their story line on LHDP. When Pepa takes her hand and they begin to walk, Siliva gives her a look of pure adoration. They can't keep their eyes off of each other.

This scene, this episode, was letting us know that the journey was just beginning. This was not about women lusting after each other in the bathroom. This wasn't two women making out in the lab. This was going to be a story of two women who fall in love and who try to keep it a secret. But it was also about how one woman discovers that the bond of love and trust is more powerful than all of her fears.

This was the moment, in my opinion, that PepSi was born. These two glorious women became one. This episode aired on May 27, 2008 and that is when the journey began. Fans all over the world packed their bags. We were so ready to be with them every step of the way.

I humbly submit this lecture with the hope that you will appreciate this scene even more than you did before. And to honor Pepa and Silvia, take the hand of someone you love and take a walk. Just walk.

Aitor and Quique found a guy wearing only his pajamas in a construction site.  He seemed out of it, so they bring him to Silvia who then proceeds to examine him in the lab.

Photobucket
Silvia: And he wasn’t carrying any sort of ID?
Aitor: Not really, nothing at all. We found him just like that, in his pajamas, inside an excavator [Translator's Reaction: WTF?] and he could not remember anything. The only evidence we have is this, look, this wristband, with FIB written on it. Have you not been to the Festival de Benicassim, have you? *joking*
Silvia: No, Fundación Ignacio Barandianán. It’s a private investigation centre.
Photobucket
Silvia does not pay any attention to Aitor's tonterias and smart ass remarks but examines Pajama Guy thoroughly until she sees something in his head.

Photobucket
Silvia: Apparently they have held his head with forceps. He still has the marks, but no signs of ecchymosis, so it was only a couple of hours ago. What’s this? Oh my god!
Aitor: What’s wrong?
Silvia: His head is full of prick marks… And he has a deep cut in his parietal area.
Quique: So what does that mean?
Silvia: It means somebody has performed surgery on this man’s brain.
Photobucket
On the Comisaria floor, Silvia saw Mariano and Paco with a rather distinguished-looking guy who was brought in by Dumb and Dumber Quique and Aitor in connection to Pajama Guy.

Photobucket
Silvia: Paco! Why is that man under arrest?
Paco: Because he is suspected of the torture performed on that dude we brought here this morning, you know, the one in the sleeping gown [Translator's snide remark: I thought he was wearing PJs!] Why? Do you know him?

Photobucket

Silvia: Hombre, just I and 90% of the scientific community know him. He is Doctor Nuñez Prado.
Mariano: Does he have a criminal record?
Silvia: A criminal record? He’s one of the nominees for this year’s Prince of Asturias Award! He is a leading figure in the field of neurology!

Photobucket

Paco: Fuck my fucking luck, for fuck’s sake, cojones! [Translator's Note: This is an awesome lost-in-translation blasphemous line haha!]
Mariano: Silvia! Even if he is an important dude, we can’t let him go, can we? You already saw what he did to that fella, he fucking plugged his brain to a machine [kinda!]. Paco!
Silvia: Well, you’re gonna have to phone the head office, somebody up there needs to know.
Paco: I can’t fucking get anything right, holy cows… Bloody… Portillo!
Photobucket
Paco, Mariano, and Silvia are in the briefing room to question Dr. Nuñez Prado. Silvia talks scientific talk - very swoonerfic!  Also, her legs are crossed very daintily, not like the butch cross legs in Season 3

Photobucket
Paco: I want you to understand that you’re not under arrest, but only detained by the Fiscalía General del Estado [Translator's Note: Big judges, nosey people in general - it’s a very important judicial institution], until we can prove your involvement in the crime. Doctora Castro, go ahead.
Silvia: Okay. Doctor Nuñez Prado, I have examined you patient and I have found incisions in his lobes, burns and abrasions. What kind of treatment did he undergo?

Photobucket
Doc: He underwent an exposure to gamma rays, combined with mild ESD [Translator's Note: I am really not sure that’s correct, but I don’t seem to be able to find a technical name for controlled ESD] in the brain and propanolol, in order to render useless a large amount of chemical synapses.
Silvia: What was the aim of such a treatment?
Doc: The aim was to erase memories.

(Mariano has flashbacks of Lola. It seems an extensive lobotomy is a good Plan B right now.)

Photobucket
Silvia: But that kind of treatment is not authorized by either the Ministry of Health or the WHO!
Doc: Of course not! This treatment is still in development. It has a 6000-page long investigation dossier, which was approved by the Centro Superior de Investigaciones Científicas [Translator's Note: Scientific bigwigs], probably without even being read.
Paco: You have erased a man’s identity and memories, and that is a crime.
Doc: Abortion was also a crime! Just like our revolutionary OCD treatment with controlled electric shocks, which I’ve been developing since 1994. Today, over 2000 clinics around the world use it.
Silvia: Are you seriously justifying this memory removal to fight a disease?
Doc: Yes, it is a selective removal. We are completely sure that we are able to delete meticulously any sort of tormenting memory for the patient.
Paco: For the love of God, have you not seen the state of that poor man?

Photobucket
Scene of the trio (Paco, Mariano, and Silvia) questioning Pajama Guy are interspersed with Dr. Nuñez Prado
Doc: […] in the occipital lobe [Translator's Note: Seriously – do they think people understand this technocrap?] that interferes with people’s will to live. What’s wrong with that? This man lost his wife and two of his children in a car accident. Two years later, his remaining daughter died after a long illness. His tragedy did not let him carry on with his life, and was pushing him obsessively towards suicide. He has seven suicide attempts recorded in our clinic for overdose, and three others for wrist injuries. Have you seen his wrists? Forgetting has saved his life, and I managed to allow him to start from scratch, and I don’t care what the Fiscalía General del Estado says. If your memories didn’t let you live, wouldn’t you prefer to delete them?
[Mariano has Lola flashbacks again]
Pajama Guy: Have you seen The Towering Inferno? It’s an awesome movie. Whoa!
Paco: Doctor, the Fiscalía General del Estado authorizes us to release you, but urges you to remain reachable for the time being.
[knock on the door]
Paco: Come in.
Doc: If your memories didn’t let you live, wouldn’t you prefer to delete them?
[Mariano flashbacks.  Again. And Dr. Nuñez Prado's words reverberate in his brain.  No pun intended.]

DL is being questioned in the Interrogation Room. Unbeknownst to the interrogators and interrogated, Aitor had wired the room for a live feed and the Pacos are in an office to watch the proceedings.

Photobucket
Lola: [What we’re going to watch] the interrogation room, is it legal?
Paco: Well, you know, honey…. Dunno, dunno… Maybe not completely legal, but I tell you one thing: they’re gonna have to kill me if they don’t want me to see what’s going on in there [Translator's Note: Paco’s words are rather senseless but I’m guessing that’s what he  really means… deep down]
Quique: The judge is entering the interrogation room.
Paco: Come on, boy, it’s not working!
Aitor: No, no, I dunno, Inspector, I did what you told me, I took a video and an audio cable from the Control Room and plugged them into the TV
Quique: That’s it, you can see now, there was a dude in front of the camera [Translator's Reaction: muahuahua this is SO LHDP!!]
Photobucket
[Interrogation Room]
Judge: I am the judge handling the indictment for this case. Following the legal procedures, you have the right to have a defense lawyer, Don Lorenzo.
Don Lorenzo: I know. I relinquish such right.

[Briefing Room]
Quique: Yes, sir, that’s it, with balls of steel. Don Lorenzo is gonna get back at them all [Translator's Note: Silvia’s face here is priceless]

Paco: Would you stop eating my ear already?
Montoya [walking in]: What the fuck are you all doing here? [Translator's Smartass Comment: Scruffy is my middle name!! Shave, dude, shave!] Paco, have you authorized this?
Paco: Yes, and I know it’s illegal, but you’re gonna let us all watch the interrogation, and if you don’t wanna stay, you can go and write a little letter outside, OK?
Photobucket
[Interrogation Room]
Judge: According to the declarations of several witnesses, the death of Miss Ruth Montalbán was the consequence of an act of self-defense.

[Briefing Room]
Quique: Of course, there was no other way around! [Background noises, chat]
Paco: Shut up already, this is not a literary gathering, fuck!
Photobucket
[Interrogation Room]
Don Lorenzo: If you want me to tell the truth… I am not entirely sure.
Judge: According to the same sources, you had a relationship with Miss Montalbán but then broke up. Is that correct?
Don Lorenzo: That’s true.
Judge: And it is true that seconds before the shot you received a phone call in which you were informed that Montalbán was the infiltrator that you had been looking for for seven months.
Don Lorenzo: Brrffff… Hummm… Maybe.
Judge: You have been a police officer for over 40 years and you have 6 Medallas al Mérito Policial [Translator's Note: The highest authority in the police force – Cuerpo Nacional de Policía]. Honestly, Commissioner, if it hadn’t been Doctor Montalbán, do you reckon you would have only disarmed her and now she would be able face a fair trial?
Don Lorenzo: Probably
Judge: I have no other option but to order your imprisonment without bail, with the charges of first degree murder.
Awkwardness in the Briefing Room, sad faces, people crying, and Montoya at the back with a  fuck-off-you-killed-my-girlfriend look.

Dramatic scene as DL is being led out of the Interrogation Room - in handcuffs and now accused of a crime.  One by one, the people at the precinct saw DL's Jail March down the Greenish Mile.

Photobucket

Out of respect for DL, Portillo removes the handcuffs when they reach the top of the steps.  And as DL is walking down the marble staircase to a really dramatic music with muffled drums, like he is being led to his execution, the comisaria (including Lola) all stop in their tracks.  Paco starts clapping and amid a crescendo of claps, DL stops and looks proudly on.  Now in tears, he continues his descent and pauses in front of his 2 daughters.  Tender family scene of him hugging Silvia and Lola.

Photobucket

Other plots: Sara is back from Madagascar and still pretty mad at Lucas. Mariano has been phone-stalking Lola by calling her and then hanging up. (What, no caller ID?) Finally, Lola basically told him that she knows it is he who's been calling, and to leave her alone.  This of course breaks his heart, and since moving to Bogota is no longer under consideration, he has another brilliant idea - to undergo Dr. Nuñez Prado's experimental procedure and simply forget - to the disadvantage of DL's defense who needs his testimony to collaborate DL's statement (about getting a call from him that Ruth was the mole).  Meanwhile, Lucas and Povedilla are undercover in prison where Salazar and his homies are jailed.  Sara visits Lucas to break up with him, and Paco comes to vent about his horrible day as acting comisario.  Rita goes to see Pove, of course.  This is the episode where Pove is raped.  (Where the fuck is Lucas?  Oh, he got his arm broken!)  Of course Pove is traumatized and wants to go home to his daughter.  He is already packing when DL is brought in, so Lucas says to Pove that they have to stay to protect DL.  Sara tries to sexy talk Aitor, but he's now in like with Carlota and tells her to fuck off.  He says that he wasn't born yesterday and he knows that she and Lucas planned the Madagascar rendesvouz.  (Take that!) Paco and Sara have a tender father-daughter moment.

Piper's Commentary:
No drama with Silvia this episode.  She is simply Silvia: she is in control, she is a doctor, she is a daughter - the things she is best at being.  Her technical questions to Dr. FeelGood emphasize her detach and cool demeanor.  Silvia, in other words, is simply acting her second-billed role.

I still want to smack Mariano upside down, but then I shouldn't because I've been there: falling in love with the most unlikely person and getting my heart broken in the process.  We've all been there. We should be patient with him even if his stupidity is beyond sympathy (but still within snarky). But really?  First, he was going to MOVE to Bogota just like that so he did not have to face Paco.  Now he wants his memories erased, damned be all?!! Really? My advice, Mariano, is to give it about 2 episodes then you'll be good as new.  And Sara - what made you think Aitor is so stupid as to still be in love with you after you dissed him for Madagascar?  Oh wait, he would still be in love with you and then the 2 of you would annoy the heck out of all of us in what would be Silvia's last season.  The Pove story was a bit too much, but I guess that's what really happens in prisons.  But still.

All in all, a drama-free episode for Silvia, but it showcases the character we have fallen in love with: strong, smart, incredible medical instinct, very hot in red... Silvia 4.0 evolving before our eyes.  And I will say it again: this is the only way she can be open and receptive to Pepa.  Any other time and Pepa would have been yesterday's soup du jour.  Silvia needs to find Silvia again, before she can even be ready for the next chapter in her life.

BMF'S FOOD COLUMN

"El Chikki Chikki" Menu

Firstly I would like to apologize for such a late food column. I am a bad lecturer who spent too many hours in the Pepsi U bar last week, mainly because my own supply of alcohol was stolen from my house on campus by an individual who shall go unnamed (*cough PM*). Also, this food column may not be my finest as my concentration skills were depleted by the constant playing of a certain controversial song which shall also go unnamed.(*cough el shitty shitty*). Now luckily for me, there is actually a cuisine that makes delicious food called "Chikki" and it just so happens to be one of my favourite cuisines, Indian!

Chikki is a traditional Indian sweet that combines groundnuts sugar, liquid glucose and jaggery. In England, this type of sweet is referred to as brittle and there are many different varieties, named according to the ingredients used such as puffed/roasted bengal gram, sesame, puffed rice, beaten rice, and dessicated coconut. If you are cooking to impress( which I am always doing, because cooking is my secret weapon and without it, I have NOTHING), then cashews, pistachios and almonds can be included in the recipe. This recipe is NOT rocket science and is so easy to make, that even the biggest idiot in the kitchen with 10 million distractions could attempt this. You could make this blindfolded with Silvia Castro Leon straddling you, begging you to rip off her top. You could make this while Pepa Miranda frisked you from behind. Ok so I think you all get my point! Chikki is sexy because it doesn't make a mess, so you can eat it in bed or feed it to someone in bed....and the aroma that wafts from the kitchen while preparing this is worth the potentially dangerous 3rd degree burns if you touch the very very hot sugar.

Ingredients: 1 cup peanuts 1 cup sugar 3 tea spoons ghee ( that's clarified butter to you and I ) 1/2 tea spoon cardamom powder ( optional, as I am assuming not many of you have this awesome spice)

Method: Roast the peanuts on a medium flame or if you are not a cave woman, do it in the oven. Remove the skin and make a coarse powder.( To be honest, buy peanuts without the skin and that solves the frustrating peeling problem) Heat ghee, add sugar. Heat on a medium/low flame, mixing it continuously. When all sugar melts down, immediately add the peanut powder. Remove from heat and mix well. Grease a plate/cutting board with ghee, pour this mixture on top, roll into a big round. Cut them immediately.

P.S (Pepa.Silvia): The sugar should not be heated for long. Once it melts down, immediately the peanut powder should be added. (FOR THE LOVE OF GOD TO NOT SPILL ANY ON YOURSELF BECAUSE IT F**KING BURNS!!) Mixture should not be allowed to cool before spreading. If it cools a bit, it cannot be spread and once it reaches this point, you cannot bring it to normal again.

Short screen time for Silvia, so the next episode will be posted shortly.

Rita and baby are coming home with Silvia in tow.  Jose Luis is so happy to see his daughter for the first time.  (And for the first time in 3 episodes, he's not wearing a blood-soaked shirt).

Photobucket
Rita: “Hello, look who’s here… Sabinica… Look who’s here, yeah… What do you think?”
Pove: “I had pictured this moment so many times that… having her here, home and warm…”
Rita: “Speaking of which, you know what they told me at the agency? They said that we’re not gonna be able to live in the flat for at least two months and a half. Now, tell me where am I supposed to go with the baby?”
Pove: “Sweet Lord, two months and a half…”
Silvia: “Hey, why don’t you come live with me?”
Rita: “At your place?
Silvia: “Yes…”
Photobucket
In the absence of DL, who's under investigation for Ruth's murder, Paco is the temporary Comisario of San Antonio.  So when Silvia comes to tell him that the Interpol will be meeting with him, he is flabbergasted.

Photobucket
Silvia: “Paco! Is there something wrong?”
Paco: “Yes. No. No, never, I mean nothing. It’s nothing, Silvia, just the coffee from the machine, it turns my stomach upside down, that’s all”.
Silvia: “Okay, my dad told me I have to update you about the meeting with the Interpol”.
Photobucket
Paco: “The Interpol what? Your dad had just told me it was a small meeting, nothing too important, you know”.
Silvia: “Well, yes, but it’s with the Interpol. He told me you were handling the case”.Paco: “That I… was handling the case?”
Photobucket
Silvia: “Yeah, I was surprised myself (Translator's Reaction: LOL), but that’s what he said”.
Paco: “But your dad never told me anything, you know, handling cases or anything and… yeah… and… and… not to mention with the Interpol, cause that’s big words we’re talking, too much. Me and the Interpol… and… but I… hummm… I just came to save his spot* … It can’t be with the Interpol”
Silvia: “Well, look, I don’t know, that’s what he told me. Here’s the dossier… so you can study it”.

*Translator's Note: Given it’s LDHP we’re talking about, the reference “calentar su asiento”, which would mean “save his spot” in a figurative sense but “to warm up someone’s chair” literally… Hummm, I am unsure – maybe Paco says it literally, you know, that he went to the meeting to warm up DL’s chair, and not only to save him a spot. LOL. I don’t know.

Andre Salazar, Allison Morris, Philippe Mignon (Really? That's his name? Why, because "Filet" is not available?), Monsieur De Gaulle, Superintendent Smith, and other players in the El Kaiser case are introduced in this episode.

Povedilla goes to visit Curtis in the hospital, and of course, secret BF Quique is there.  He tells them that Rita will stay with Silvia while waiting for their new flat.  Pove is pretty proud and happy about Silvia's offer, but the two dumbasses tell him that it is a mistake to leave the baby with Silvia, because she just had a "uterus problem" and lost her baby and might keep Sabinica for herself.  Pove of course listens to them and tells Rita of their suspicion.  They decide that Rita and baby will stay with Pove in his tiny flat because Silvia is simply too dangerous. Yeah, that's it.

That evening, Silvia lets her self into Pove's flat where Rita and Sabinica are staying.  She's carrying a big teddy bear that I think is the same one she's hugging at Rita's after the mobbing episode.

Photobucket
Silvia: “Hello! [whispers to a sleeping] Rita… Rita… [walks to Sabinica crib] Hello, hi, hi gorgeous… Look what auntie Silvia brought for you tss tss… Come here, what’s up? Here… Hello… What’s up, what are you laughing about? What are you laughing about? [picks up the phone] Hello? Yeah, this is she… Hi… Give me a second. [leaves, voice off] At eight o’clock? [on screen again] Can I have the address? Just a second, I need pen and paper, hold on”.

SPANISH (because Silvia is so cute): ¡Hola! Rita [susurro] Rita… Hola, hola, hola guapa… Hola… Un momento. [se va, off] ¿A las ocho? [en pantalla] ¿Me da la dirección? Un segundo, que voy a por un papel y un boli, no cuelgue.

So as not to wake a sleeping Rita, Silvia walks into Cachis with Sabinica to take the call.  Lola comes in
Silvia: “Okay, good. Fine, I’ll be there. See you. [to Sabina] What are you looking at?”
Lola: “Oh, sis, it’s you! I thought somebody had broken in”.
Silvia: “No, I just had to write down an address and I needed a pen”.
Lola: “[to Sabina] Aww, my little girl. Where’s her mother?”
Silvia: “She’s sleeping. Hey, where’s Sara?
Photobucket
Lola: “To be fair, I have no idea where Sara is. I’ve been phoning the airport, they have problems with the air traffic in Berlin, really, I don’t know what else to do. Do you mind closing the bar?”
Silvia: “Not at all! Come on, take your apron off and run off to get your child. [to Sabina] That’s it, Sabinita, you and I are going to close the bar, okay?”
Lola: “You sure you don’t mind?”
Silvia: “I said no! Let’s see, the gas tap… switch everything off, and lock the door”.
Lola: “That’s it”.
Silvia: “Okay”.
Lola: “Thanks”.
Silvia: “Come on, clear off!”
Photobucket

Rita wakes up and panics when she cannot find Sabinica.  She and Pove go outside when they see Silvia with their baby.  Rita is ballistic and immediately confronts Silvia.

Photobucket
Pove: “Inspector for the love of God…”
Silvia: “What’s the matter?”
Rita: “That’s it, honeybun, it’s over, sweetie. Don’t you ever touch my daughter again, you hear me? Because my daughter is mine, not yours! It’s not our fault if they killed your baby! If I see you coming any close to the baby, I’ll kill you, I swear to God I’ll kill you”.
Pove: “Come on, it’s enough. It’s over, everything’s fine”.

(Translator's reaction: I really feel like pulling Rita’s hair out after this speech! No need to be so damn cruel with Silvia here – B*TCH!)
Photobucket

Silvia is in tears as she ponders Rita's very sharp accusations.

Other stories: Full episode starts with sexy time between Paco and Lola interspersed with scenes of Sara all alone in Madagascar with 20 Euros in her wallet. (Piper's reaction: Still HAHAHA!). Paco is overwhelmed with everything and calls his shrink every 3 minutes, who then tells him to breathe into a paper bag. DL is staying at Paco's place and trying to hide from the world.  Mariano is still so in love with Lola and starts semi-stalking her by following her around town and "accidentally" bumping into her.  When he asks her if she can ever love him, she says NO because she loves Paco.  Sara is mad at Lucas for not showing up at their Madagascar tryst (Haha!) The Interpol briefed Paco on Allison Morris, et.al. who apparently robbed 3 casinos in Atlantic City, NJ, along with many other crimes.  Undercover agents are needed from San Antonio since one of the Morris associates is in a jail nearby.  Pove, because he fixed the Interpol guy's slide show, is now deemed a computer expert and is volunteered for the operation. Gonzalo attends Ruth's funeral.

Photobucket

Piper's Note: Aside from wanting to bitchslap Rita in this episode, I wanted to bitchslap Mariano as well.  He's totally besotted with Lola and, against his better judgment, pursues her, even though Lola is married to his best friend.  Maybe because this is the first time since he lost Bernarda that he feels happy with another person so he wants to hold on to the feeling.  And when he asks Lola if there's any possibility that she could love him back, I wanted reach through my computer screen and yell:  "MARIANO, IF YOU THINK FALLING IN LOVE WITH A MARRIED WOMAN IS BAD, WAIT UNTIL YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH A NUN!!!  THEN YOU WOULD REALLY WANT TO MOVE PERMANENTLY TO BOGOTA!"
