Montoya and Silvia are very similar in characters. Before the era of PepSi, Silvia was portrayed as a disaster in love. She openly pined for her ex-husband, Lucas who didn’t share the same feelings, she was briefly engaged to the biggest idiot in the world Marquez, and she had a complicated on-and-off relationship with Montoya.

Montoya shared the same fate. Although he pined for the redhead, he wasn’t able to keep her heart. That rollercoastered to his relationship with Ruth (that was undoubtedly heading to ruins), his lovesick crush on Pepa, his lust filled fling with Rita’s cousin Marga but when he finally found his true calling with Rita, he was met with untimely death.

However, what was the preparatory point of Montoya’s unlucky fate in the love department? It can be considered that his relationship with Silvia was the cause. So instead, how was he able to move on from La Pelirroja?

In the early episodes of LHDP, Montoya was head over heels in love with Silvia. He was always there to reassure her intelligence and beauty and he eagerly took the position of Silvia’s rebound boy. It was Silvia that called the shots whenever they were together. But Montoya was so determined to have Silvia love him as much as he loved her that it worked against his favor. After they were no longer dating, it’s notable that he still had feelings for Silvia.

The couple share a long history:

Their work professionalism (note: sometimes professional, it's LHDP!!) Their relationship ups and downs The lost of their unborn child And dealing with Montoya's depression after the death of Ruth But Montoya and Silvia shared a pivotal scene that helped him move on from her. With the introduction of Pepa, Silvia and Montoya had limited interactions together. However, they were able to share a moment of unspoken words in Episode 4x26.

This scene wasn’t just Pepa comforting her lover by holding her hand, looking at her reassuredly, and simply displaying her love. It was for Montoya to realize that Silvia had found solace with Pepa. Silvia was no longer going to seek for comfort with him.

When Silvia asked for comfort and Pepa provided it, Montoya began to process what he had observedWhen Montoya turned to Silvia, in a way, Silvia challenged Montoya’s gaze as if to say “Do not ask me. It’s not the time.”Pepa caught Montoya’s stare but she knew the two Inspector’s history and instead of pouncing to her first instinct to protect Silvia from him, she, with kindness, let them communicate with each other.

As Montoya ponders again, he knew he would always respect Silvia for all they had been through. With a slight nod, he gave Silvia his answer. He acknowledged Silvia’s relationship with Pepa and he accepted it. She responded with her own gesture: Thank you.

As the scene ended, Montoya was left with his thoughts. His period with Silvia has ended. Will he be able to find what Silvia has?

With a light touch on his arm, Rita was there to answer his question.

I chose to write about Gonzola Montoya because Silvia (and Pepa) affects all characters on LHDP. PepSi University is Pepa and Silvia but I didn’t want to disregard the rest of the show. Hence, the reason why my first thesis was about Don Lorenzo.

I want to be able to explore the characters around PepSi and want to show readers that without them, we probably would not have such a diverse storyline with Pepa and Silvia.

I SEE YOU

I forgive you and I love you

These sentiments are never said in this episode, but those emotions are clearly shared by Silvia and Pepa.

In this lecture, we are focusing on the two hospital scenes where Curtis is definitely the third wheel in the room. Silvia and Pepa have not spoken since the "I only want to have a baby with you" episode (the other garage scene) that aired March 11. This hospital episode aired April 15, so we have all been waiting patiently for their reunion.

Silvia knows that Pepa is upset about Curtis and that she is not herself. Silvia comes to the hospital out of concern for Pepa. This is also her chance to tell her that she has forgiven her for the Aitor kitchen incident (that I still deny happened) and to tell her that she loves her.

So what does Silvia do? She lets Pepa talk, she questions the actions of Curtis during the shooting, and she makes Pepa laugh.

There is a wonderful look between them after Pepa has laughed and she just looks at Silvia with such happiness and shows a glimmer of hope that Silvia will take her back. Silvia gives Pepa this long look and she seems overwhelmed by the laughter, the smiles and the reality of knowing how much she loves this woman. She loves Pepa. It is as simple as that. This scene is the ice breaker and it was up to Silvia to reach out to Pepa. Pepa had done everything possible to let Silvia know that she was wanted and it took this strange shooting to bring them together.

Now we have the second scene in the hospital, the one that has very few words. This is the kind of scene that should be shown in acting classes around the world. Because we know the Pepsi history,we know that there have been enough words. The power...the impact of this scene is the fact that there is barely any dialogue. Taking the words away strips bare the emotions and this is when there are no games, no jealousy, no fake pregnancy, no harassment charges, and no anger. This is the moment when Silvia opens her heart even further.

What does Silvia see when she first sees Pepa sleeping? She sees the woman she has lived with for over a year. She sees the woman she woke up to every morning. She sees Pepa sleeping on her right side just like she did in their bed.

This image moves her to come to Pepa, to cover her with the blanket. She delicately pushes her hair out of her face and then strokes her cheek. Just look at Silvia's face and you can see what she has missed and what she is remembering. She sees the mouth that has kissed her, she sees the hands that have held her and made love to her. And she touches those hands in wonder. She smiles.

At this pivotal moment, Silvia has slipped her hand into Pepa's, and Pepa begins to wake up. Silvia sees this and does NOT take her hand away. She waits a few seconds and then walks away.

Pepa crosses to Silvia and touches her. But Silvia senses her before she is touched, and she has such a look of peacefulness and pure love.

Pepa does not move. She waits for Silvia, who comes to Pepa, always looking her in the eye, they kiss and they kiss again. And then the wonderful hug which seals the deal. I believe that Silvia was going to kiss Pepa again, but Curtis ruined her chance. The look of joy on both of their faces was a mirror of the Pepsians' collective smiles around the world.

By now we have watched the famous bathroom scene multiple times. It is one of the best Pepsi scenes ever. So it is no surprise that the writers and director decided to pay homage to that scene by reversing the positions of the two women in the hospital reconciliation. This moment is their relationship coming full circle, this is their reunion. In the bathroom scene and this scene, Pepa's inner monologue is the same: "Be still. She needs to come to me. She needs to tell me that she is ready...ready to accept my love."

The strength of the hospital scenes lies with the fabulous faces of Marian and Laura. Look at Marian's entrance with the food...look at the range of emotions on Marian's face...this is what is called..acting.

These two scenes are all about Silvia seeing Pepa clearly. This is Silvia seeing how much Pepa means to her and how much she needs her. Seeing her, touching her and holding her - she sees all of her doubts and fears on the surface and they are all dismissed for one reason -- she loves and trusts Pepa.

And Silvia finally realizes that that is all that matters.

Vale Magazine: Resurrect Silvia!

As requested by the Boss and the crowd at AE, here's the translation of the article in Vale magazine into English. I have tried my best although the original has made me want to double cry :(

The World Asks for Silvia's Resurrection

After Lucas and Sara’s, Silvia and Pepa’s romantic love story was very moving. Now, after Silvia’s death, the whole world is campaigning for the character's resurrection. Long Live PepSi!

Love does not understand of age, colour or gender borders… Lucas and Sara, Rita and Povedilla, Paco and Lola… We were moved by all the romantic stories from LHDP and we have have fallen in love with each one of them. But, no doubt Silvia and Pepa’s especially written relationship made it to our hearts. Unfortunately, after Silvia’s (Marian Aguilera) tragic death on day of her wedding to Pepa (Laura Sánchez), we were all rather depressed. Now, an international campaign through the Internet is asking for Silvia's resurrection and return to he show! Find out all details here!

Pepa and Silvia (better known as Pepsi) made us love their tenderness, their secrets, their eternal love declarations with their lust-filled looks, their future plans, their hot sexy times…

Their love story was so beautiful and their love became so strong that their romance crossed all borders and became famous worldwide! The couple reached countries like the United States, Brazil, Taiwan, New Zealand, and Sweden, so quickly the Pepsi fan base, and the LHDP fan base, began to grow through the Internet with forums, blogs, websites… Even a Youtube channel – Pepsienglish – with videos of the couple for the international fans to follow what they were up to… The adventures and misadventures of Paco… and his women!

However, to be able to reach a larger number of fans without “interferences”, the uploaded scenes have subtitles in English, French or German, so no one would miss a detail of the romance between Silvia and Pepa. It was about time! Finally a series showing a lesbian plot from the romantic and tender point of view! That’s the reason why, after Silvia’s sudden death on their wedding day, the staunch Pepsi admirers began a campaign to for the character's resurrection! “Don’t kill Silvia!”, “Silvia rules” or “Silvia forever” were some of the messages in a video (see pics below) on the Internet, which is part of an unprecedented mobilization to save the character and bring back her love story with Pepa.

Unfortunately, the new episodes of “Los hombres de Paco” (which will be back on TV in January) will not include Silvia, shattering to

What’s going to happen now? 
The Pacos” have already started filming the new episodes [Translator: 13^th Oct, according to what LS said], so the doubt that’s building is, what’s gonna happen now? How is Pepa gonna face life without her love? Even though the memory of Silvia will be always with her, we hope Paco’s sister manages to get her happiness back and she gets new moving story lines.

But that’s not it. Other than videos, emails and letters, the creators behind the “Save Silvia Campaign” have also published a letter on El País, thanking Marian Aguilera and Laura Sánchez for their roles in the show: “We run out of words to express the emotional impact that Silvia, Pepa and their love story had in our lives. Actually, Pepsi stand out above the rest of women in love because their story is unique, realistic and positive […] We feel that their magnificent, honest and realistic love story is a gift that got to our hearts, and it will always be a part of our lives […]”.

After this, we can only shout: LONG LIVE Pepsi!

After all the disastrous love stories that Silvia had had, the forensics doctor of San Antonio had lost all her hopes to find true love. Even so, the young doctor could not imagine what destiny had reserved for her.

And her true love came along…

She had married Lucas and had an affair with Montoya, but, no doubt, Silvia’s true love was Pepa. When she found out that Paco’s sister was back, her face lit.

Little by little, the doctor realized that what linked her to Pepa was more than just friendship. She loved her. But love is never easy, so even if they were madly in love with each other, they had to overcome many obstacles. When the initial fears of how they felt about each other were over and done with, Pepsi had to face more complicated relationship issues, like fear of commitment and their different views on motherhood. Things got worse when Pepa made out with Aitor, so the couple decided to give themselves a break – a time in their lives when they went through really tense and awkward moments.

But one day, the slight touch of their hands brought them back to reality: they loved each other, so love triumphed over fears and Pepsi got their story back… as hot as ever!! After that, both the proposal and the wedding came along. And they swore to love each other until death parted them [Translator: holy monkeys, it was a quick promise!!]

The season premiere picks up where the last episode left off: the aftermath of the hostage situation. Silvia is in the jail cell cradling Don Lorenzo, who is in desperate need of insulin. She asks the paramedics for help, who are there busy working on Ruth (who was shot by DL before she could shoot him) as a bloodied Montoya looks on.

One of the Samur guys gives DL the shot. The others are desperately trying to resuscitate Ruth while Montoya looks befuddled and shocked. Silvia is still focused on her father.

The paramedics take Don Lorenzo to the garage which has been set up as a temporary triage unit; it is also where the ambulances are. Silvia sees Paco:

Silvia: Paco, do you mind staying here with my father? I need to go back upstairs.

Silvia runs back just in time to catch Gonzalo trying to revive an already dead Ruth, all in vain of course. She and Lucas rush to stop him.

Silvia: Gonzalo! Gonzalo!
Lucas: Gonzalo, that’s enough!
Gonzalo: Leave me alone!
Lucas: That’s it, it’s over

Silvia then comforts an obviously upset Montoya. Later on, when Montoya has calmed down a bit, Silvia tries to talk to him about getting help, while Lucas plays forensics and tries to determine the angle of the shot that killed Ruth. (Note: What happened to old-fashioned chalk mark to trace a body?)

Silvia: They have set a field hospital in the car park. And there’s a psychiatrist… I think you should talk to him.
Gonzalo: I don’t want to, I don’t want to. I don’t want to talk to a psychiatrist. The only thing I want is to see the motherfucker who killed Ruth.
Lucas: They shot her from here. And this was Don Lorenzo’s position.
Silvia: My dad shot her?

Silvia runs back to the garage to ride with DL in the ambulance. Actually, she does a lot of running in this episode, which would have been great because, you know, she was supposed to have taken her sujetador off from last episode. Nipples Alert? Uhm, no.

Silvia:  Blood pressure is 120/60, and heart rate stable at 70 .
Doc:  He’s stabilizing 
Silvia:  Wait, wait. Dad… you’ve been in a diabetic coma. You all right? 

As he is being transferred to the bus, DL starts regaining consciousness and mumbles something to Paco. Silvia and unknown doctor hear his confession.

Don Lorenzo:  Paco… I’ve… I’ve killed… Ruth. I’ve killed Ruth .
Silvia:  Dad, don’t force yourself too much .
Paco:  Calm down, Don Lorenzo, you’re confused. That’s what comas do, they make you groggy. But you’re gonna  be fine, don’t worry .

Silvia looks apprehensively at Paco as they both try to digest what DL just said. She rides in the ambulance with him to the hospital.

Curtis is also in the same hospital with his secret BF Quique holding vigil at his side. Some misunderstanding about an unplugged monitor, and then fantasy MUSICAL NUMBER!!!

Silvia:  Dad, I’ve been trying to reach you on your mobile but it’s switched off! Portillo and the Policía Judicial are looking for you, you have to file your report… about the whole Ruth thing  

Don Lorenzo:  For the love of God, I’ve just been in a coma, I’ll go some other time…
Silvia:  When? (Translator's Note:: Silvia – you asked for THIS comeback! LOL)
Don Lorenzo:  Whenever the fuck I want, daughter! (Translator's Note: Literally means "whenever my santos cojones want." This doesn’t lend justice to the awesome sentence in Spanish – it’s a vintage DL line) Sorry.  Today is your niece’s birthday, right Lola? It’s a miracle we’re still alive and we’re gonna celebrate it properly, okay sweethearts? Behave.

(Silvia looking all beaten in this latest tit-for-tat with her father)

Silvia: Well, do whatever you want but first go home and take a shower… look at you.
Don Lorenzo: You’re one to talk…

(Silvia smiles at her father...)

DL hugs his hijas as he leaves, presumaby to take a shower. Silvia is left alone with Lola, who's feeling all guilty about her little nooky at the cemetery from the previous episode. Lola walks away, but Silvia walks after her and tries to talk to her anyway.

Silvia: Hey Lola, where’s Paco? He’s gonna have to file his report too.
Lola: Paco? Honestly I have no idea, well no no… I… I haven’t seen him, I haven’t even talked to him, so you know.

Silvia: How come you haven’t talked to him? What’s the matter?
Lola: Sister, I have to tell you something… horrible… While you were held hostage… well... I was kissing… a man.
Silvia: What man?

(Another priceless Silvia face)

Lola: Well… a man… who cares, just a man… Mariano, several times, and one of them particularly deep. (Translator's reaction: LOL!) I know, I know I should be worried about the hostage situation... about dad, about Paco… but I can’t take the whole Mariano thing out of my head .
Silvia: Did you sleep together?
Lola: No no no, we haven’t slept together. We just kissed. What’s the matter, should I only be worried when I sleep with a man? The thing is I can’t sleep, I can’t eat and I don’t even want to celebrate my own daughter’s birthday. And the worst of all is I don’t know how I’m going to be able to look Paco in the face when I see him again.

Silvia, the guardian of family morals, is mortified by yet another confession from her immediate family: her father just killed someone, then her sister almost committed adultery. Not feeling like giving any absolutions, Mother Confessor Silvia is not going down without a fight! So she goes back to the comisaria to confront Mariano.

Silvia: Jose Luis! Where is Mariano?
Pove: In the shooting gallery... I think

Pove is already in deep shit by now, because his wife gave birth and he wasn't present. He's also still covered in fake blood from when Eva was shot several hours ago! Couldn't he have simply gone to the bathroom and cleaned himself? No, because in LHDP world, it wouldn't be as funny.

Silvia: Mariano! Lola told me everything… Do you think it’s normal to be kissing her around? (Translator's note: Literally translated as "round every corner")
Mariano: No, no, it’s not normal, Silvia, it’s not normal. But it’s not unusual either. I don’t know, Silvia. Have you never fallen in love with the wrong person?
Silvia: What the hell are you talking about?
Mariano: Silvia, I can’t help it .
Silvia: Stop it, stop meddling. Get away from there before you screw up something that you won’t be able to fix afterwards.

Later on, the familia is celebrating Sarah's 18th birthday, complete with cake and champagne. There are no Silvia lines in the last scene; she just joins in singing happy birthday to Sara.

Sara announces to everyone that she’s leaving for Madagascar with Lucas. First, Lola doesn't know where Madagascar is and DL says it's in Africa.

Lola gets all worked up and starts yelling the hell out of her until she calls her own daughter a spoiled brat (Translator's Note: Ugh, not pretty). Silvia looks on all perturbed.

Sara raises the insult bar and tells her parents that they’re jodidos because she is happy but they are not anymore. Paco slaps her in the face. (Translator's reaction: Take that!). Silvia remains seated on her chair for the whole of the scene, really not knowing where to hide her head given it’s a very awkward family fight.

Other plots: Mariano takes Silvia seriously and decides to move to Bogota. (Bogota? Why Bogota? Because it sounds funnier than Panama?) Lucas and Sara are already at the airport to go to Madagascar when they see Mariano waiting for his own flight. Lucas thought that he was there to stop them from running away (because you know, it's always about them) until he sees Mariano's plane ticket. Mariano told him how he fucked up and had a "little affair" with Lola, to Lucas' shock. He says he's moving to Bogota so he doesn't have to face Paco. So Lucas lets Sara go ahead to boarding while he talks to Mariano, who admits that he is totally in love with Lola. Lucas goes ballistic and starts yelling and then slugging him until the Guardia Civil come in to break the fight. They have to hold an out-of-control Lucas down on the floor while he yells "Sara!" very dramatically, like Ben yelling "Elaine!" from the movie "The Graduate". Sara ends up in Madagascar by herself. (Piper's reaction: Hahaha!)

Paco starts seeing Dr. Montejo, the police shrink. Montoya is devastated by Ruth's death and was going to jump from the roof of the precinct, but Pove, and later DL, both talk him down from the ledge. Internal Affairs are already investigating Ruth's death.

Piper's Commentary: Silvia is running around a lot in this episode, maybe to show us that she is back in control - the voice of reason for her family, the protector of the family honor, the Silvia who has gone to hell and back and is stronger for it. When Mariano asks her if she's ever fallen in love with the wrong person, she is mortified that such a question would even be asked of her! I don't know if this is the writers' way of showing us that she's already free of the demons of her past and can now totally progress to her next reincarnation as Silvia 4.0.
